A warm welcome to SGL and that was my first scope had a load of fun with that.

Once the secondary is in place unless you drop or severely bang the tube you will not have to adjust it again, you will only need to tweak the primary.

A friend asked could I make a Telrad heater had a look online for a few ideas came up with one using 3 22ohm 0.6w resistors in a U configuration and a 9v battery.
I included a switch and a led so you cannot leave it on and run the battery down.
It gets warm so just got to try it one night needs just a bit of glue to hold things in place and it's done.

When I first attended our Society it was a bit like that but I was fortunate that I went with m brother-in-law. After only a couple of months I was asked to join the committee at the AGM for some new blood and one of the first things I mentioned was that the society wasn't an inviting place to new people. I told them that I understood that they only met once a month so they all congregated into their little groups to catch up but if they wanted to build the membership up then they had to be more welcoming. I don't think they had even realised what they were doing but it has changed around and we are friendly welcoming bunch now.
These met every week and once a member could go on a Friday as well so twice week so I have no idea why they ignored me.
A friend on here went the same club and messaged me saying they have a click and if you are not in it they ignore you don't think he has gone back either.

I come here for advice even after 13 yrs I still need help sometimes but I do have a bit of knowledge I can give other people.
I have found SGL one of if not the friendliest forum out there.
I have met and spoke to a few members and love conversing with like minded people.

I went to my local society I had a EQ3-2 then with a 6" skywatcher Newtonian, I had a bit of trouble collimating the scope spoke to them and they said bring it up. So I turns up and one bloke looked and said collimation is spot on. A fella came up to me and said I have a EQ5 tripod you can buy I thought this is a great society.
Next time I went it was clear so I set up got Saturn in the FOV of my 8mm BST couple of blokes looked through and were very impressed with the view asking what eyepiece I was using.
I paid to join didn't go for a couple of weeks as I was ill next time I went up it was raining so we sat in a big room 30 minutes not one person spoke to me I left.
Following week same again not one person said anything to me over 30 minutes I spent there they just sat in a huddle talking no video put on no talks so I walked out and I have never returned.

I never got the AZ Pro mount as I was put off with my EQ6 Tripod with the EQ5 adapter plate may not fit the AZ.
As I have long Fracs I need the height to clear the tripod I have never got a satisfactory answer if the AZ would fit with this adapter plate.

This is just where I set up the starsense app cannot find its position the only way I can use it is to put a 8x4ft piece of wood up on the side of the shed but then I cannot view south.
This is one of the reasons I am selling my 10".

I regret selling my 8" Skywatcher reflector and my Meade 127mm refractor.
The reflector was flocked put better springs on it don't the mod on the focuser and on the secondary. RACI and Telrad fitted Went to Buxton to a informal meet the objects I saw that weekend was fabulous.
The Meade I had it fitted with a Skywatcher dual speed focuser I split a 0.9° double star it was brilliant.
I am sure once I sell my 10" Celestron Starsense I won't regret the sale I have nowhere to take it with 40 min to a hour away from here so it's not getting used.

I'm selling my 10" Starsense I have a brand new code but can the buyer use it or will he have to register with celestron and ask them to send him a code.
-
Absolutely brilliant Nick hopefully I can do that with the 120 when I get it.
I will be definitely trying to split Tegmine.

buy yourself these,
https://www.screwfix.com/p/deta-tte-upvc-white-self-adhesive-mini-trunking-12mm-x-8mm-x-2m/262vt
use the front of the cable trunking around the tube on the outside of the rings top and bottom and make your own jubilee clips to fit. You can undo the bolts now and spin the tube it will not slip forward or backwards and unbalance the scope.
Here is a picture of a 200p but at the time I used embroidery hoops but I got the trunking and jubilee kit as it made the tube spin easier.

Collimation confusion
in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice

When I took my 10" apart to flock it I put a piece of electrical tape on the tube and the primary mirror cell. I had read you need to keep the mirror orientated the same way. Whether that is true or not I dont know but I did it anyway.
