    Hello Astronomers

From one newby to another, welcome & congratulations on your new scope. Rob
  2. I've got a set of SVBony's super Plossls which I think, considering the price, are great value & , good quality. I too am a bit baffled by the similarity of the zoom eyepieces, particularly the 7-21 and the 7.2- 21.5. Perhaps I should buy both and see for myself the difference ? Rob
  3. After several weeks of cloudy skies I finally got out tonight and was rewarded with my first sight of Lyrids. Although this may seem a bit pathetic to seasoned observers it made my day/evening!
  4. "Once the sky manages to clear up, what should I try looking at whilst learning how to drive my 'scope?" I would suggest getting a copy of "Turn Left at Orion" , if you haven't already, and check out any local clubs. ATB Rob
  5. Fortunately I have a lathe which makes collimating your collimator easy. Mount the collimator in the chuck, tape a piece of paper on the far wall and slowly rotate the chuck. Word of warning though: many modern 3 jaw chucks do not run true, so you may have to use a 4 jaw & dial it in. Rob
  6. FLO put stickers on my orders which say "May Include Clouds". Is it possible to order things without clouds?? Rob
  7. Excellent sketch, I can recognize this and I've only been observing a very short while ! This inspires me to have a go myself. Rob
  8. Brilliant posting! I'll start saving up my pennies- I've already saved the cost of the EQ2 deluxe motor drive so I'm about 1/3 of the way there. ATB Rob
  9. Many thanks for the information. I did look at the amazon listing for the Svbony set and amongst the Q&As I found the following ".....you can't screw into each other(!) , because this Svbony ...filter set is a unilateral thread". That's me told then.
  10. I've just got the SvBony 7 filter set. My other filters (Celesteron) have both male & female threads allowing for stacking. With this set are we supposed to remove the locking rings to stack them? Rob
  11. Many thanks to all of the above contributors. I have been given a set of SvBony filters for my birthday and I now have some idea about usage. ATB Rob
  12. I've recently purchased a 3.2mm Starguider for my 130p, from FLO, and can wholeheartedly agree- brilliant piece of kit @ a great price.
  13. I've had my 'scope a couple of months longer than you and can sympathize ! Learning to use your telescope in the dark, without kicking the tripod, knocking the instrument while changing eyepieces etc. will come with practice and the rewards are well worth the effort. Wrap up warm and be patient. ATB Rob

    Hi everyone!

Newbie stargazer here. Just bought my 2nd telescope: Sky Watcher Explorer 130P. Looking forward to some clear skies but wasn't prepared for the chilblains! Hoping to learn lots from you all about my new hobby & maybe recommendations for thermal socks. Rob
