I was already sold on this wedge but getting real world feedback always helps to cement the decision. Thanks a ton.

The wedge comes with everything required. I was just looking at options to try it without the stacked ND/Continuum filter. Solar is new to me so am having a play to see what I like best
I am thinking of getting the same Herschel wedge from TS-Optics and wanted to get your opinion on it since you have owned it for several years now. Did you eventually use the wedge with a plain ND3 instead of the stacked ND3+SC filter or did the stacked one perform better? Also, did you find the sun in white light interesting enough as a long term target?

Hi @going-supernova,
Could you please explain how you fitted the Virtuoso base on the tripod? Maybe add a photo or two of the base's screw and how this secures the scope on the tripod. I have the Heritage 150P on the manually operated dob base, so maybe the two models differ in that perspective.
To answer my own question, the Virtuoso base comes equipped with an integrated 3/8'' thread, ready to be mounted on a tripod. The manually operated version lacks such a thread.

Hi @Ataraxia
It's a regular tripod I have for my camera from about 10 years ago:Giotto's MTL9351 B Tripod + MH5011 Three Way Head Kit.
The picture is with the legs not extended and is how I keep it in the house and when using it. I find this the ideal height for me.
Since the Virtuoso base has a tripod screw in the bottom its ideal and one of the reasons I went for this.
Weather has been poor for me too, not taken it out for a while but I have just received my copy of turn left so plenty of reading to do while I wait

An open tube reflector (even with a light-shroud) is a bad (i.e. risky) choice for doing solar. See a relevant discussion here.
