Cool cheers sounds like it’s a level up from sky align that comes with the scope but don’t think I’ll bother for a while

I’m thinking more between session of use at home if the weather is bad , I’m I ok to keep it all set up permanently at home ?
-
Just want to make sure that the mount can take the weight and the gears/motars won’t get damaged
-
I’ll be keep it in door ..just want know if I should dismantle after each session that’s all

Nexstar 8se

Am I ok keeping the OTA and mount set up or should I take it all down and store away when not in use ?
-
We should get our own group on here

Celestron and PlaneWave Instruments telescope control software CWPI
So what’s the difference between that and starry night and skyalign
skyalign is what I use on the mount
start night if planetarium software
what’s CWPI ? Do I need it and if so is instead of Sky align

Starry Night is a planetarium programme, just like Stellarium or Cartes du Ciel. Depending on your telescope you will get either the Special Edition or Basic version. The Special Edition version also has the ability to control your mount through a computer. The basic versionis hust a planetarium programme without mount control.
So what’s CPWI ?

Right! I see so it’s a bit like sky safari !
cheers -
Yea read that but still don’t get it

Hi could anyone explain what it is , do I download this to a laptop ? Is it a compliment to the skyalign I have with my 8SE?

Sounds like the HEQ5 PRO Go-To is loss the better future proof buy for dso and planetary photography
-
I’ll stick it on the wish list ! 👍🏼

The Sky-Watcher HEQ5 PRO Go-To has been recommended to me also today - worth a look

Any suggestions as to an alternative set up bearing in mind it’s for casual photography use - I use my SE mostly for back garden observing- I might even just use a camera in that set up tbh
-
What do you advise them ? As an alternative?
-
Like the look of this mount as an upgrade from the SE I have - question I have is ... would my Nexstar SCT 8” fit or do I need an extra something to connect them ?

I’d try using a smartphone first and seeing what results you can get before buying a dedicated camera. You might decide it's worth getting a better camera.
This cheap smartphone holder works well and is the one used to take these single frame shots.
Cracking idea

Do I need to update my skyalign handset that came with the scope ? Before I start observing , I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that I do need to 🤔
