We here at Rookwood generally agree this is a magnificent image - but what on earth were you doing up at that time in the morning?
-
A very impressive set of images.
-
Still a very nice image - well done
-
Wow - super smashing! Deep envy :-)
-
A particularly excellent shot of a DSO - Deep Sh*t Object!

Martyn - it's an unpredictable thing and I've taken it up with an Administrator. It appears that it may not be unique to my images. You could try http://stargazerslounge.com/members/captain-tweaky-albums-images.html where you will find the images with some of my others.
Yours aye - David

Martyn - I've just set-up a small WinXP machine, gone to the thread and bingo - no images - hmmm! Most peculiar and I've no explanation!
-
Ah-Ha - curiously that link to me straight to my post with images - seriously spooky!
-
If I understand you right - there is just the one at the very bottom of the thread with a link to the originals covering the word 'here'. Many thanks for the comment as well! :-)

Thank you kindly Martyn - it was taken with a Canon 550D and Sigma 150-500mm lens hand held - nothing very astronomical! :-)

IMHO there is little to choose between the two - just personal preference. This one has a clarity which gives definition to the nebula and is a style that I personally prefer - as a consequence I think it's freakin' brilliant!
Whether or not I shall ever have the patience, expertise or equipment to achieve something even remotely similar, only time will tell. But these images will remain the target and when I've succeeded in getting close, I'll be one very happy chappie!
Good stuff Shaun.

Absolutely fabulous - a very impressive image.
A Few Days Later:
Having now seen many more images of the nebula taken by some seriously sophisticated equipment in professional observatories, I am even more impressed by the quality of this image. There have been few, if any, that have such clear rendering of the nebula without certain stars dominating the image. This is certainly amongst the best of the images I have seen.
If you don't mind I shall be using this as my Laptop desktop for both inspiration and aesthetics!

A very impressive image - nicely done.

Amazing - good one Kieran. I'll get there one day!!
-
Very impressive image with the equipment you have - certainly gives me something to aim for when I get my act together!
-
Thank you kindly - though Russ should take much of the credit!! :)

Very impressive image

Very impressive. You can tell Adrena1in is used to HCC IT, he'll be t@lking 1ike th4t s00n!!
-
Very impressive - I should be very pleased to achieve something even close to that.

Thanks Martyn. The camera was mounted on a tube with an eyepiece inside and then focused in Live-view. This gives a very limited field of view and so the end result is a mosaic of approximately 40 images.
But ever so fleeting!

Another cracking shot. Martyn are you going to be joining us on the dark-side at http://southcoastastronomers.freeforums.org - hope to see you over there. It looks as if the current controllers of SGL will be doing away with the social groups like SCAG for some obscure reason.
