M81 - My first galaxy photographed that was the subject

PESKYWAABBIT

So this was my first galaxy i've photographed, Messier 81. It consisted of only 5 light frames by my OTA was about to come into contact with my mount so I had to stop!

This was with a stock Canon 1000D and Skywatcher 200p on a HEQ5 pro using an Altair gpcam.

It can only get better from here!

I think this is a really nice image. The spiral arms and the dust lanes are really visible in this. surprising how well a first try can come out...

Makes me want to start buying imaging equipment and get started ;).

Tom.
