First Telescope

Hi all!

So I've narrowed my first telescope down to three options:

Orion XT8 

Revelation 8" Dobsonian

Skywatcher 200p Dobsonian

Is there a big difference between the three in terms of quality, or should I just buy the cheaper one

Don't quote me on this but I think Revelation are branded GSO scopes and Orion and Skywatcher are Synta scopes. So essentially we've got two houses, Synta and GSO. If you fancied a read there's quite a indepth post on Cloudy Nights and perhaps cutting to the chase, our very own YKSE has put together a very informative pdf. From time to time I have read that GSO mirror coatings are poorer than those used by Synta. Furthermore, the sheer number of people happy with their Skywatcher scopes would draw me by persuassion to their own 8".

hi mate and welcome, i cart tell you about the orion or Revelation but i have owned a 200p on a eq5 mount for awhile now,and its a fantasic scope very well made you get crisp images with the planets or dsos good for pics or visual,not too heavy and it came with a good finding scope. i would recommend the 200p .all the best.charl.
