Noisy M51

I had a go at M51 on Friday night. Ever since I started using APT my subs have got an awful lot noisier. I don't know if it is electronic noise from the lappy power supply or the power to the mount or if it is simply coincidence and actually due to the warmer weather, but it is giving me grief with the processing that I didn't have over the winter.

This is an hour and a half of 60 and 90 second unguided subs with 30 darks for each and a set of 30 bias-subtracted flats. Stacked in DSS, processed with Canon Photo pro and PSe7.

If the sky is clear tonight, I might try and double-up on the data, but I could really use some sleep.

I've just picked up a Canon 400D and downloaded APT last night.. still have to make up a serial cable for the shutter release, but initial results look encouraging
