HEQ5 Syntrek - to goto. Need some advice....

I've got a HEQ5 syntrek, and want to update to goto, without going down the EQMod road, as I had nothing but headaches when trying that.....I was looking at one site and it has the controller for just under 300 quid, and says it comes complete with stepper motors etc for the HEQ5.....but I was under the impression I had the necessary motors and board etc already, and just needed the handset. I looked on another site and they offer the handset alone, for 150quid, and it says I just need that to upgrade to goto......

Can anybody confirm or deny i'm on the right track with just getting the handset for 150quid ?

I'd appreciate any input before I put my hand in my pocket!

AFAIK the only difference between the syntrek and the synscan is the handset so yes, all you need to buy is the handset: Skywatcher - Skywatcher SynScan V3 handset .

Correct, you just need the handset (and cable). You often find these for sale second hand.
