SCT Visual back extension

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am relatively new to SGL and setting up my first SCT scope. I have attached some photo's to help explain my predicament. I tr eated myself to a really nice diagonal from William Optics and because of the way my synscan mount connects to my Celestron C5 the OTA is effectively on it's side. This has given me issues with clearance behind the visual back of the scope. Is there an extender tube or adapter that can increase the distance between the diagonal and visual back without affecting image quality? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Stuart

Wouldn't it be Male SCT-2" pushfit and a 2" pusfith to Female SCT ( ortherwise known as a 2" SCT visual back) that you would need...

I know I have those bits in my Adaptor "arsenal"...

Even though SCT's have loads of focus adjustment you might me getting a bit close to the limit...

The Clear aperture in the center of the SCT's "port" will be your limiting factor in terms of any benefit from using 2" accessories...

This would give you an extra 13mm and a filter to stop any rubbish getting into the OTA...
