Anyone modified a Meade ETX red dot finder?

I have the older style Meade 125-ETX PE with the red dot finder which features a very flimsy and easily snapped off (@ £10 a snap) plastic lens. The red dot base contains the LNT electronics but does anyone know whether the new style Meade RDF's can be retro fitted please?

Alternately, can anyone recommend a suitable red dot finder which can be mounted on the tube (which has no dovetail bar or 'spare' fixing holes?

I've searched Mike Weasner's Mighty ETX site but can only find retro fits of red dot gun sights.
