M42 -Why no colour?

Hi all,

I know the image has egg shaped stars and it out of focus, but:

How come my 35s subs are full of purple and blue and yet my DSS stacked image is grey?

Also: how do I avoid burning out the core?

Quick fix is boost the saturation in DSS...

Open the file in DSS (no need to restack)

Click on the saturation tab and increase it then click apply

you wont see any changes until you click apply - so make a series of small changes... If it all goes pear-shaped hit reset to go back to the image that was loaded...

When your happy save the image..

Ah ok I'll try that. Have never even considered touching those settings. I'm very scared of fiddling with any settings in that tab other than boosting the colour channels as I have no idea what they mean. Will post the image after combining it with data from last month. Cheers
