Can you do this?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about plantary imaging and the issue of planet rotation between frames... and more importantly between R/G/B sets

In IRIS you can turn a picture into a map, then turn a map back into an image, from any angle.. but lets assume we stick with an earth bound view.

I realised that you could turn all the images in a sequence into maps. Then align/stack them etc. then finally turn it back into a normal planetary image, thus you are able to compensate for the planets rotation.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this or if there are other drawbacks that render this technique void?
