Skywatcher 130p, please advise.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

First of all - great website.

I've just ordered a Skywatcher 130p scope. I was wondering what sort of extra accessories (moon filters etc) I'll need. What would you suggest? Any tips highly appreciated. Regards.

A warm welcome to SGL, that's a great little starter scope.

I would invest in either a wide field or planetary eyepiece, the biggest problem I found with the 130p was Jupiter looked tiny with the 10mm supplied eyepiece (65x) . My first upgrade was a 5mm planetary eyepiece (TMB clone from Sky's The Limit), I guess it depends what you want to look at, for your scope I'd be looking at a 4mm (162.5 x) eyepiece to get planets big enough to appreciate.
