Planets and rotational distortion

Recommended Posts

Is there a list (or can anyone recite one) of the maximum time it's feasible to capture a planet for before its rotation starts to interfere with the final output?

I "think" I read in a post here that Jupiter was about 1min20 (though I have seen other guides that suggest 4mins) but what about the others?

Thanks in advance!

It's been discussed a lot in the past.

Depends on how high the resolution in your images is. For most people, even on Jupiter, 3 min is fine - if you need less, it will be obvious from your images. 1 min 20 sec is for people working to the highest standards of resolution (about 0.15 arc sec) when Jupiter is at its closest.
