'New' s/h skywatcher 130m...

Recommended Posts

Just acquired a used Skywatcher 130m off one of my work colleagues to play with for a month or two.

I believe it to be the older version which uses a spherical rather than parabolic mirror. Is there any obvious way to check?

As far as collimating goes is there any point in using the 'film canister' method, as described in the instructions or does it require a proper collimation tool?

I've only used binos so far (Celestron 15x70) so looking forward to giving the scope a whirl.
