130 SLT Astrophotography InFocus Problem?

Last night was my second attempt at trying to capture some decent images with this scope and a modded SPC900. My first target on my last attempt was the moon and the more and more i focused in, the cleaner the image got, until i ran out of in focus. I felt like if i could go a couple more inches in that the image would have sharpened up. Last night i tried Jupiter with a barlow (2.5x) and i thought id captured some good RAW data. After processing with registax and messing around with lots of wavelets im pretty sure that i wasn't focused in the first place, again.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it the scope? Is there a possible fix? Or should i try again with maybe a 2x barlow and keep altering the settings?

Thanks for any responses.
