SkyWatcher Az Goto mount in a very manual mode

Recommended Posts

Greetings to the entire forum,

I'm determined to find out if I'm falling in love with the sky ...

I'm considering to buy an instruments set with that mount,

the description, in the manual, is rather poor ....

so I'm trying to get more info from an owner.

The question concerns the possibility of positioning the optical in manual mode,

I'm not talking about the manual introduction of coordinates,

but the hand positioning of the telescope .... (for a terrestrial observation maybe)

is this a possible option (and advisable or the risk of damage would be high )?

Assuming I would carry the mount by car quite often, are there specific bags or storage tools available in order to provide a safe transfer ?

Looking forward to get a reply from you.

Thanks in advance..... and clear skies :)!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

My SkyWatcher Az Goto is non moveable unless powered by 12v.

It is possible to move it in the alt axis, but I believe this is a safety feature should the scope crash into the mount when skewing.

If I use mine (MAK 127) for terrestrial viewing or just star hopping, I mount it on my camera tripod.

Tony
