I have a Finepix F700 point-n-click camera that is no longer in use and was wondering if I could modify it for astro work?

It's got a nice CCD in it. Could it be modified to take longer exposures than the current 3s? It would be nice to piggyback it on my existing kit and mess about with some milky way shots.
