Following on from the Pro thread, post here you favourite image ever taken by an Amateur

For me, it's the July 8th 2009 APOD "The Dark River to Antares". It was taken by Jason Jennings http://cosmicphotos.com

For me there's no other image I've seen that has so much going on, a beautiful range of colours and lots of crisp dark nebulae

It proves that amateurs can compete with professionals and is something to aspire to

Have you seen Gendler's observatory, location and kit? Does he still come under the (affordable kit) amateur category? hmmm lol

I suppose he's not a full time Astronomer, so he narrowly scrapes into the Amateur category. Maybe we need a "uses an ridiculously expensive remote obs in a dark sky place" category
