Iphone/Ipod angle finder app

Has anyone used an angle finder app for the Iphone?

Is it accurate enough to be useful, or is it just a gimmick?

I tested the app the other night on various targets that should of filled the EP, but I came up empty. I did not use the finder scope as I wanted to see how well the app worked. I couldn't even find Polaris

I used distant suns to find the angles needed, I then put my ipod on my scope and moved my dob to the required angle. I then did a sweep of the sky at the same angle.

I don't want to keep wasting my time on this app if its that unreliable.
