Cleaning a compact camera of dust

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I think there is a little dust on the CCD of my Lumix DMC-ZX1. It is no major problem, and is only really visible when zoomed in (it has no effect on my night sky shots) but I want to try and clean it. I have heard of two solutions so far:

1. Use a vacuum cleaner to try and suck it out through the openings in the side of the zoom lens while zooming in and out.

2. Open the camera like this:

Are there any other solutions, and would you strongly advise against doing any of the above?

Thanks.
