krs01
what will be the best webcam to get for lunar/plantery imaging and what is the best way to modify it?thanks
riklaunim
SPC900NC (SPC880NC) is the best as there are good tutorials for various modifications To start using it for imaging you only have to modify the housing by adding 1,25" nosepiece and removing the lens. krs01
thanks, will look at at getting one.can you use old 35mm cases as a nosepiece?
TheThing
Rather than mod one, you can get them already set up for lunar and planetary work - Meade Lpi, Celestron Neximage, Orion StarShoot etc etc
krs01
which of those cameras would you say to be the best?
TheThing
The Orion, but only because I have one!I've owned the Meade as well, which is a very capable webcam, but seems to have a slightly smaller chip.

TheThing
I picked up a StarShoot II fairly cheaply 2nd hand. Not the newest of webcams and I've only had one outing with it so far, but it seems pretty good.stick a wanted for one here and on UK Astro Buy and Sell. You never know your luck!
