First go at moon using Nikon D300 at prime focus

This is my second go at photographing the moon (Tuesday 18th May). I decided to have a go using prime focus (Nikon D300 through 8.5" f/5 Newtonian) so that I could get the whole crescent moon in a single pic.

I found it harder shooting the crescent moon than my first go last month which was a much brighter gibbous moon (also I used eyepiece projection). I think its the contrast between the bright edge and the dark terminator that makes it difficult to work out the best exposure. I varied the exposure in the hope of getting it right, but as it turned out when I checked them on the computer all of my shots were underexposed. I'll know better tomorrow if we get clear skies.

Anyway here's the best I got:
