Anything good for tonights viewing

Hi all,

i'm think of going out tonight as its quite a clear looking night so far !!

but is the ash cloud going to affect my viewing or ruin the mirrors

if its okay is what can i try tonight

im guessing you are in the UK, the ash cloud wont do any damage to your mirrors, the particles are too high up.

as for viewing, depending on your location, shouldnt be hindered, the concentration of particulates isnt high enough. you might see a slight haze, again depending on your location.

hi i live in the south of england , was hoping to take a look at saturn if that fine planet is out ??

Would not worry about ash. Good things too see are Saturn, Globular clusters M3, M92 and M13, galaxies M51, M81 and M82, the ring nebula (M57) in Lyra is becoming better positioned in the east. That should be enough to go on with.

most here have downloaded a piece of free ware called stellarium, its very helpful in regards to target positions

I Love checking Saturn Out , Just Wondered Are There Any Bright Nebs or Galaxies, reason I Ask Is There's a Bit Of Light Pollution Near Me!!!

Next clear night have a look for galaxies M51, M81 and M82 they are probably the brightest and globular clusters M3, M5 and M13.
