Explorer 200P

Recommended Posts

I have just purchased a Skywatcher 200p reflector. An initial try out with both the supplied 25mm lens and my own Celestron 25 mm lens required me to wind the focuser right out and then pull lens back in holder to get focus. It was in daylight and I was focused on an object perhaps 100 to 150 m away. This does not seem correct but I am unsure wether its me or the scope. Any ideas.

Hi Tony.

The 200p is a good scope, I've got one.

Were you inside the house with an open door when you did it, if you weren't then did you let the scope cool down for at least 45mins before you used it. It won't focus properly unless it's at the outside ambient temperature.

When I first got my scope I didn't let it cool down properly and had trouble focussing on stars and planets. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Good luck and clear skies.

Marc
