Comets and Supernova - A good day on FTN and FTS

Recommended Posts

Been imaging for a few hours today on Faulkes North and South. Tracking a new Siding Spring comet (data reduction done and submitted to the IAU MPC), and also, in collaboration with the Italian observatory who first noticed the original Siding Spring comet outburst on the 13th (alongside our very own John Slinn at the IOW star party), I have also been imaging a Supernova for photometric analysis

Here's the images...spot the comet :-). The Supernova is easier... gave me vastly more respect for those who do spot these objects, especially by eye alone..

Supernova is one for UK imagers with larger (8" or above should do it) scopes to follow up if you want to.
