Moon with DSI III Pro

Well DMK21 is good for planetary imaging (fast, live response to precise focusing). It can also be used to image stars like globular clusters. It doesn't have good sensitivity for fainter nebulae (except strong O-III light).

DSI III Pro is designed for DS imaging or big things - Moon and Sun. It has 16-bit dynamic range, it's much more sensitive and it has bigger sensor. However big sensor means longer download times of the frames. No peltier cooling.

They are both good for what they have been made for. But not the best ;)

Soon I should receive Basler Ace camera for tests. It has the same sensor size as DMK21, but contains significantly better CCD than webcams and D*K cameras (ICX618 vs ICX098). This sensor already crushes everything in the planetary imaging (like this), and if Atik/SX/QHY/* makes a 16-bit camera with it - it will also be very good at small DS objects like narrowband imaging of planetary nebulas (as it's even more sensitive than ICX285 in DSI III Pro and other cameras). It would be cool if Sony would make 1/2" or 2/3" CCD of such sensitivity and a ethernet/9-pin firewire fast camera would hit the market with it :)
