Saturn 4 April

Difficult air made Saturn a tricky target 4 April. Seeing was III. Invading cloud didn't help either.

Started off with a widefield view in my 16" x107 magnifcation.

Five moons seen. On the left is bright Titan. Just off the rings on the left too was Tethys, looking quite faint due to glare from the planet. On the right Dione and Rhea were present, and off up to the upper right was Iapetus. First time I have positively identifed Iapetus, so well pleased. :(

Then onto the planet itself:

The NEB was the obvious feature. Very broad and seemed to show graduated shading in to the NPR. Right close into the north pole the shading appeared to drop off completely.

The SEB was thin and well-defined. The SPR region also seemed to have well defined shading, darker than in the north.
