Conditions weren't great and a star test showed the atmosphere boiling like a pressure cooker but I had a go anyway as I don't get many opportunities these days!

Lined up Saturn as well but the batteries died just as I pressed the shutter!

Anyway this is Mars in a Tal 6" F8 Newtonian using a 32mm Celestron Nexstar Plossl and Meade 140 apo 2x Barlow. Camera is a 5 and half year old Fuji Finepix s5500 at full optical zoom and set to video mode.

I have a few more clips to process so i may get a better shot tommorow.

This is great. Can I ask how many frames you used for the image? I myself have an S7000 from years ago and it hadn't occurred to me to use the video mode.

To get registax to accept the AVI's I have to chop them up into 100 frame sections in Virtual dub.

I chose this section to do first as it was in the middle with less vibrations. I only accepted a few of those 100 however. Maybe less than ten.

I'll have a look at the other sections tomorrow but I'm going to bed now!
