Saturn on Skywatcher 1145P

I thought I'd have a crack at saturn seeing as the ring is pretty visible at x160 mag with a 6.4mm ep and x2 barlow.

With a 500mm FL and x2 barlow, that makes only 1000ml FL - and an equivalent mag of x200. To get a decent image resolution, then it looks like I need to bump the FL to 3000 which would be way beyong the magnification limit of my scope?

Don't worry about theoretical magnification limits. The rules are a bit different for imaging. (don't ask me why!) just up the x's and try it.

Only problem is running out of light as Saturn isn't that bright. So it becomes a balancing act between power and enough light, somewhere in the middle will be the "sweet spot" for your scope.
