A quick whats the difference?

Between the

Sky-Watcher Evostar 80ED DS-PRO APO

and the

Sky-Watcher Evostar-80ED2 PRO OTA

The first sounds like an apochromatic and the second just a normal refractor, OTA stands for Only Tube Assembly, which means it doesn't come with a mount, you'd have to buy one seperatley.

First one is the successor to the 2nd,-both APO's, 1st one a tinsy bit "sexier" ? than the 2nd

thank you both for that. I thought things with a 2 on were normally the newer but looking at it I didnt think it was.

oh and i get the sexier lol

I might be wrong but I think the original ED's were the same bog stnd blue as the achro's hence the "2"

The 80ED2 Pro is now discontinued. It had a gold paint finish and a single speed focuser. It was the successor of the 80ED, which was in "Skywatcher Blue".

The 80ED DS-Pro is the current model with Skywatcher's new "black diamond" look. It has a dual speed focuser, but otherwise mainly the same as the above. however, I think it offers mroe supplied accessories. DS - does that maybe stand for "dual speed"??

All three of teh above share identical optics!!
