For those that don't know, the following link will take you to the online Astronomical Almanac: The Astronomical Almanac Online -- Welcome

Top tip: Click on the contents menu item and select 'Glossary' for a full..... err, glossary of astronomical terms.

This is part of what is know as "Standards of fundamental astronomy" by the IAU (International Astronomical Union) - Standards of Fundamental Astronomy - Home

Anyway, I thought some of you might find this interesting and/or even useful?

The almanac is described as (in their on words):

"The Astronomical Almanac is a joint publication of the Nautical Almanac Office in the United States and Her Majesty's Nautical Almanac Office (HMNAO) in the United Kingdom.

The U.S. Nautical Almanac Office is a division of the Astronomical Applications Department of the U. S. Naval Observatory (USNO). The U. S. Naval Observatory is the pre-eminent U. S. authority in the areas of time keeping and astrometry; determining and distributing the timing and astronomical data required for accurate navigation and fundamental astronomy."
