colin_c
Well , scope arrived, got a bit of clear sky, so ventured out into garden with it..switched her on and selected automatic alignment. selected star, centered the nearest brightest one, same again with next star, thought cool...lets do the tour, selected moon, started slewing was about 30 degrees out weird i thought. so aligned her again, same happened, was going through settings and...bingo time was an hour slow (idoit behind lens) by that time it was cloudy again..[removed word].Tonight took it out again, nice clear sky, set her up again, took the tour, slewed round to the moon and stopped still not in the feild of view (using possil super 26mm) had to slew manually slightly to get into feild of view. So firstly if anyone can shed any light on this , maybe a tip or 3 on setting this up correctly would be wonderful. Before i kick it LOL.Secondly, thought ok lets try a few shots of the moon, unscrewed cap at back fitted camera on, set camera to apperture priority and hit the timer button (using an eos 450D) got 4 decent pics... this is a question about the zoom and wheres best to take pics from, firstly the scope is 1250mm so with camera body only attatched, is zoom ratio 1250MM or less ??secondly in others experience is it better to take pics from back end of scope or from lens position.Appreciate any help on the above
Capricorn
F number is 1250/90 = 14.Presume that the term zoom ratio is really f/number.Think camera will have to be set fully manual as the light metering will not be happy photographing the night sky as so much of it is dark it tends to confuse the metering that presumes that the whole area is illuminated to some extent.
