Sun on Feb 11th

Made a lazy observation of the sun through my office window using my Canon S2 IS with a 6" mylar filter placed in front of it (dont ask!!). Took a handheld shot and just got it up on the PC. Good view of sunspot groups 1045 and 1046.

1045 appeared quite dark close to the limb with a bit of lighter fringing around it. 1046 is elongated with a pronged appearance, the body of the spot is oriented about 30 degrees (south ?) to its direction of travel.

Really quite pleased as I havnt made a sunspot obsy for about 5 years!

Next time I think I will mount the camera on a tripod to get a steadier image. I may even sketch it!
