LX90 users - your view !

Hi. Looking to mount a ED80R to my fork mounted, no wedge, LX90 10 inch SCT by use of a bar and scope rings. I have a few concerns about the added weight and if the motors are up to the job of carrying this extra OTA. Can anyone put my mind at rest or suggest what I may need to do to stop any issues I may come up against. Thx in advance as always JOHN

If you get the balance right (obviously fore & aft is all you need to worry about) you should be OK.

I have seen a few counterweight systems available for the LX90. Surely this is just adding more weight. I will mount the ED80 directly on top of the SCT OTA by us of the bar. This will balance things up somewhat ?? Thx John

Should be OK for observing so long as they're properly balanced, as Brian says. Here's a good website which shows how to balance SCT's well.

Jan's Meade LX90 Pages

As you know, the LX90 forks can be a bit wobbly and if you're planning on imaging, I expect the extra weight to be a significant issue for the forks. Others do use the LX90 but it takes some effort. Been there .... sold the LX90
