Depends on the DSO - large objects like M31, the double cluster etc need low power (eg: a 32mm eyepiece) wheras others such as globular clusters and planetary nebulae benefit from a bit more magnification. There are no hard and fast rules other than the more aperture you have, the more detail you will see in DSO's.

A good plan is to start with your lowest power eyepiece and then gradually increase the magnfication until you get a view that pleases you most.
