Sunspots 19th July

Had a pop at the sun this afternoon and found some spots.

This shows the context,

And this is closer in.

Both images are false colour using a Solar Continuum filter from Modern Astronomy.

Just looks a bit retouched to me. Having seen these spots in several wavelengths, they didn't seem that distinct to me. Must be the 40º+ temps doing in the seeing. No offense.

None taken mate.

You have to ignore the hoofprints as they are caused by dust in the optical path (I know you knew that AM but for the discussion I must own up to the filthy state of my gear).

The sunspots were really razor sharp (from the UK) with none or very little of the penumbral surround that I normally see. Looking down the 25mm Plossl aiming thing, they looked very much like the image posted.
