Focal Reducers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Iam hoping to start dabbling with astrophotography next year using the Celestron Neximage.

I have noticed that some astronomy websites are recommending a focal reducer with the neximage.

Do I really need a focal reducer and will it make a difference to the image..

I own a SkyWatcher Evostar Pro 100 refractor.

Thanks in advance

Deacon

the focal reducer will reduce the focal length of your scope making it quicker to image fainter DSO objects and increasing the field of view, but for planets it is the other way round, you need a greater focal ratio so adding a barlow will do this but will reduce the field of view.
