OK so Im stupid......

Telescope left out to cool......I told SHWMBO as she popped out to the shops. After she returned I said "must just check the sky".

"OH she said its Precipitating down" or something like that.

Out I dashes and rescues my pride and joy (Celestron SE8) dry it off but not too wet.

Takes of the lens and diagonal...

HORROR

The diagonal looks like 1/2 the mirror is de mirrored. AGGHHHH

Thinks.... not rain damage,,, lets take it back to dealer (name withheld to preserve reputation).

Dealer looks at it and we sends it back to Celestron UK (Hinds) for ?? repair replacement under warranty.

Guess what folks....the mirror is a prism with nowt wrong with it apart from a little mucky.

HOW WAS I TO KNOW...mind I still feel a muppet.

It did look sorta queer....not like a mirror at all.

Worst of all its been away during the only clear skies this century
