Solar Activity November 15th

Another frustrating day with the Sun playing hide & seek with thickish high cloud (& mostly winning).

White Light: The disk was not quite blank; I could see a small patch of faintish faculae near the east limb, associated with returning AR1029.

Hydrogen alpha: There were three patches of plage visible; AR1029 at the east limb, a patch which appears to be a developing active area to its north west and another less active one near the meridian (which does not appear in the following image)

Poor transparency did not prevent me from seeing a magnificent set of prominences on the NE limb:

Calcium K: The plage associated with the "new" AA was seen to contain a minute spot, no more than a pore really, which I'd overlooked in white light. Sorry for the poor quality of this image but the Sun was getting very low and there was quite a thick layer of altocumulus in my line of sight.

Transparency poor to awful, seeing poor (but surprisingly good given the low altitude and the unstable airstream currently afflicting this part of the world).
