Borg 77ED vs Televue 76

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I'm considering the jump from Equinox 80 to a more high end retractor. Mainly because of the (insert sweary word) collimation & flat field issues I'm having

I'm looking for something around the same aperture and focal length as the EQ80, but has a spot on flat field across a QHY8

I've narrowed it down to two scopes: The Borg 77ED and the Televue 76.

The advantages of the Borg are I'm guaranteed to get a flat field, it's really fast with the super focal reducer, and it's nice and light and will double up as a great travel scope. The disadvantage are it's quite expensive

The advantage of the Televue is that I already have a TRF-2008, which is the focal reducer to match that scope. It's not as fast as the Borg and I'm not sure how good the field is over a big chip. It's a lot cheaper than the Borg, and there are a few second hand ones here and there

Anyone had any imaging experience with the Televue?

Thanks

Euan
