how do i open a file of about a 1000 fames ive been going to load images but i scroll down select them though i can only open so many

What's the file size? The old version of Registax (v4) gets confused by files bigger than 1GB. If your file is longer than that you will either have to upgrade to v5, even then the functionality seems to be a bit experimental, or hack the file into bits using something like VirtualDub.

If you want to make a very long AVI, with most cameras you can specify a region of interest (RoI) smaller than the frame & record only that bit, so you get more frames per unit of storage.
