For a Grumpy old(ish) git I am almost happy, skies are clear(ish), I have set up my spare PC in the Control Centre (shed) got a 5m USB extension to run a QHY5 guidecam and PHD software, initially too much noise for the PHD to operate, but using filtering and taking darks in PHD I am now guiding nicely, the guiding graph is almost flat in DEC and RA.

My new Megrez 72mm arrived from FLO, ordered yesterday so thanks to them and Fedex for such quick delivery. I will be using it for wide-angle imaging and maybe guiding but my finder guider is doing a good job. The Megrez is a chunky wee beastie, heavier than I expected and nicely finished- oozes quality, first photons soon.

Oh, tonight 10ish I saw 2 sets of red lights flying line astern, very quiet and low, then the leading 2 split apart, moments later the rear 2 did the same forming a flying square. quite sort of weird - a la "close encounters of a third kind", then I heard the jet engines, but an amazing sight!

The 72 FF III will make for a useful setup.... thats what I image through 95% of the time...

I think you will be very pleased with the 72 Megrez Pete. I have been using one for about 18 months now.
