hello - IR filter removal on D.Camera

Recommended Posts

im currently "modifying" my old C-4000 olympus and in the process of removing the IR filter covering the CCD as well as all the lenses to expose just the CCD to project the telescope image onto. I am hopeing that with the removal of this Filter i should be able to "see" more when imaging as IR light is more likly to pass through dust, atmosphere etc - My question is - Is there any obvious negative reason i should not remove this IR filter with relation to Astro imaging.
