Would this work?

All,

just wondering if you could take the sensor from an old/broken digital camera and build your own imaging camera ( a bit lighter than a DSLR) for not a lot of cash. Most of the systems you get on a digital camera are redundant for imaging.

Would the best approach - to take the sensor out and plug it into new electronics or just bodge what was existing in the camera?

Any ideas what would be a good chip to look for? Or is this a stupid endeavour and a total waste of time?

cheers

Alan

mmm yes possible, but you would need to be a master at the electronics / processing that goes on and all the transfer of data etc. There is more to a camera than the CCD chip.

Some people do rip out the redudant parts of DSLR's and put in coolers etc, but very extreme.

Personally I think you are wasting your time unless you are an expert in modern electronics and have everything to hand as well as being a programmer.
