What nebula filter for visual use?

Recommended Posts

I am debating whether it is worthwhile getting a filter or two to improve visual viewing of DSOs.

I usually observe with my 12" from a dark site (Dartmoor or rural). I'm guessing either the OIII or UHC would be best from there? Are H-alpha filters not suitable for visual use?

I usually observe with my 4.5" reflector from Exeter, which is seriously light polluted. Would I be best with a OIII filter (which might double as a moon filter?), a UHC filter, or a light-pollution filter? Truthfully, I'm more interested in what would be best for my 12" though!
