Celestron C90 Maksutov-Cassegrain

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I was wondering if anyone has experience of using the Celestron C90 Maksutov-Cassegrain scope for general astronomical viewing and terrestrial use. Is there information on the limiting stellar magnitude with this scope? I have seen plenty of reviews on the Internet which are largely favourable, but would like to gauge the useability from the Stargazerslounge experts :)

From the point of cost and size it appears to be exceptional value, and with the long focal length great for lunar views (my particular interest). The compact size also makes for easier storage; an important point if space is a premium!

The other query is can any type of tripod be used to mount the scope, or does it require something a bit more study?

I am sure I will have more questions, but best to get advice before jumping in the deep end so to speak!

Thanks for any advice.

Lester

Hello Lester.

The C90 is a very nice little scope but i would sway in the direction of the Skywatcher 90 version as it is half the price, will offer the same performance and give you some spare cash for other items.

Regards Mick.:)
