Lunar Crescent 10th June

Recommended Posts

Battling with the usual dire weather conditions.  Thin cloud and haze prevailed, so I chose to image in daylight with a stronger Proplanet 807 IR filter rather than my usual 642 which gives a brighter image.

The images below are the best I could achieve.

Celestron C11 Edge HD

ZWO ASI 183mm

Proplanet 807 IR filter

15% of 2000 frames at 19fps

Four pane mosaic plus some selective enlangements.

Thanks for looking.

And here are the Proplanet 642 versions.

Can't see much difference.

The banding is an interference effect and does not appear on the originals !!!

Nice images Roy. I thought there would have been more of a difference in brightness between the filters.

Thank you. The stronger filter required an integration time of 60ms at gain 150 as opposed to 20ms at gain 105 for the 642. Interestingly they both have similar sharpness which surprised me, although the 807 did darken the sky as expected.

Lovely images Roy- I particularly like the image(s) of Mare Crisium. They are the choice of the selection for me.

Thank you, glad you like them. We all have our favourites and mine is Petavus., but I can see why Mare Crisium appeals to you.

Good set of images, especially the close in views, which are really clear and detailed.
