Night on the Cut

Moored in my mate’s narrowboat near Rugeley. Splendid short session showing him some highlights of the night sky with binoculars. Well worth packing. Binoculars have a sort of visceral immediacy that telescopes don’t.

   Off topic, but narrowboat living has always fascinated me.  There are liveaboards in the US, but I don't think there's anything like narrowboats here.

I know lots of people who live or lived on the boats. A few lived in wagons like we used back in the day, when we were allowed to be free.

No, not from what I've seen on TV of UK canals.  Canals here tend to be quite wide, deep, dirty, and busy with enormous commercial barge traffic.

Oh well we have The Thames, Mersey, Ouse, Trent and Humber rivers and the Manchester Ship Canal for big wide beam barges
